Pharrell Williams’ laundry list of accomplishments (most recently capativating audiences on NBC’s The Voice and making the entire planet “Happy”) have culminated to the moment where he finally has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to call his own.
The event was witnessed by his mother Carolyn Williams, wife Helen Lasichanh, their son Rocket Ayer Williams and hundreds of adoring fans, yesterday, December 4. He was also introduced by the equally famous face in Ellen DeGeneres who appeared even more excited to help present the honor to him.
“I say first and foremost, God is the greatest,” the 41-year-old megastar producer began in his speech. “So today to be considered and acknowledged on this level is a huge thing for me.” He also saluted his hometown of Virginia and all the music teachers he considers as mentors. His fellow N*E*R*D’s Chad Hugo and Shay Haley weren’t forgotten in the thank you’s, either.
Pharrell has racked up seven Grammy Awards, sold 100 million records and countless Billboard hits. CBS reports that his star is the 2,537th one to be cemented on the glamorized streets of Hollywood.
