Sports is a here today, gone later today business. You’re only as good as your last win and the struggle was too real for some this season, which led to losing their jobs in the process.
While the NFL was plagued with several player conduct scandals through the majority of 2014, pigskin fans large and small centered their attention on the annual Black Monday blood bath.
Did the smart dumb cats running the New York Jets organization finally get the hint? Did Odell Beckham do enough to help keep Tom Coughlin’s job? Was the writing on the wall for Jim Harbaugh in San Francisco?
With all these questions we present Black Monday: the NFL coaches that got fired. Let us know who deserved it the most in the comments section.

Rex Ryan (New York Jets)
No surprises here as the Jets’ biggest claim to fame during the Ryan era was the infamous Mark Sanchez butt fumble.
Jim Harbaugh (San Francisco 49ers)
Even though he brought San Francisco one game away from the Super Bowl, Jim and management could not see eye to eye. He recently accepted a coaching job with the University of Michigan.
Mike Smith (Atlanta Falcons)
The Atlanta Falcons have failed to live up to their potential for several consecutive seasons. Both the fans and ownership got tired of the jig and now the silver fox is on the hunt for a new job.
Phil Emery (Chicago Bears)
Phil couldn’t get things right with a struggle defense and the puzzle that is Jay Cutler at quarterback.
Marc Trestman (Chicago Bears)
Additionally, the Bears cut head coach Marc Trestman.
Dennis Allen (Oakland Raiders)
Let’s not forget that the Raiders let go of Dennis Allen from his coaching duties mid season.
John Idzik (New York Jets)
Gang green also served a pink slip to general manager John Idzik. Many believe he is the reason Rex Ryan lasted so long as the head coach.
