Chicago rapper King Louie is on the road to recover and “doing well” after being shot in the head on Wednesday (Dec. 23). According to one of his reps, he is talking and recuperating after the brush with death.

Reports the Chicago Tribune:

Chicago rapper King Louie was talking and “doing well” Thursday, a day after he suffered a gunshot wound to the side of his head, a representative said.

King Louie, whose real name is Louis Johnson and who also goes by King L, remained at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn on Thursday and it was unclear when he would be released, the representative said, asking not to be named.

Johnson was shot about 3:30 p.m. while sitting in a vehicle in the 3900 block of West 83rd Street in the Ashburn neighborhood, according to Chicago police.

The rapper, 27, is often credited with coining the term “Chiraq” and popularizing the drill rap sound. He was part of the team nominated for a Grammy in 2013 for their work on Kanye West’s track “New Slaves.”

Although there were too many trolls who had the audacity to cheer this tragedy, King L has been getting plenty of support from fans and his peers.

See the most notable well wishes below and on the flip, including plenty from his fellow Chi-Town artists.
