In the wake of Cam Newton‘s Super Bowl 50 loss, former Denver Broncos player Bill Romanowski took it as a moment to insult the Carolina Panthers quarterback. In a now-deleted tweet, Romanowski called Newton a boy and actually had the nerve to check him about his attitude.
“You will never last in the NFL with that attitude. The world doesn’t revolve around you, boy!” read the tweet which posted near the conclusion of the Super Bowl. Naturally, the tweet exploded onto social media and got the proper reaction of people trying to get the notorious hot-headed Romanowski swiftly out the paint.
Romanowski tried to clarify his weak position in a series of tweets saying that he was mostly harping on Newton needing to grow up. He finally offered a limp apology by tweeting, “I apologize for that remark ‘boy’. It was not intentional or even trying to disrespect others. Peace everyone.”
The damage was already done and Romanowski is still getting rightfully roasted for stepping out there when he shouldn’t have. Perhaps he’s lost a bit of memory over the years but Romanowski was one of the most-hated players in the game with a reputation for dirty play. The receipts got shown last night and well into today, however, so he’s probably eating a big plate of humble pie now.
