While people near and far nurse themselves back to health from their New Years Eve “activities,” Timbaland continues the celebration with an aptly titled track, “The Party Anthem.” As you could have guessed, the beat is absolutely disgusting. The track’s all star ensemble of Missy Elliott, Lil Wayne, and T-Pain don’t hurt either, but it’s Timbo’s patented sounds that make  the song sonically marvelous. This, people, is the perfect display of what happens when artists work with producers, rather than beatmakers. Welcome the shade.

Each artist sounds like the best form of themselves on the track. Teddy Pain’s crooning rivals that of his greatest hits circa 2008, while Weezy and Timbo keep the witty lines coming. But it’s Missy who deserves the most applaud for her verse, which features the dexterous flow that made her a star.

No word on where “The Party Anthem” will land, but artists should be afraid if this is a preview of what Timbaland and Missy have been cooking up. Other Timbo-produced jams like The Game’s Jesus Piece leftover “Judas’ Closet” show that the Virginia producer hasn’t lost a beat. No pun intended.
