Lawyers usually get a back rep, but one counselor is getting recognition for his good deed. Tony Tolbert of Los Angeles, gave his house to a homeless family, where they will live rent-free for the next year.

Taking a page from his father who always left a spare bedroom for those in need, but now suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, Tolbert saw it as his duty to help the family. “You don’t have to be Bill Gates or Warren Buffet or Oprah,” he said. “We can do it wherever we are, with whatever we have, and for me , I have a home that I can make available.”

While the family of fourwhich Tolbert found through a local shelter— stay in his house, he’s since moved back in with his mother.  “He is so giving and he’s always been that way,” revealed his mother, Marie Tolbert.

The lucky family is headed by Felicia Dukes who, like many in this economy, has been unable to support her four children and had to move three of them into a shelter. Her oldest child is not allowed to stay shelter because the facility is only for women and children. “My heart just fills up,” she said reacting to Tolbert’s generosity. “I’m just really happy.”

Tolbert, 51, works as an entertainment lawyer.
