The Culture Reacts to Malcolm-Jamal Warner's Untimely Passing
3 of 11

We get it, diss records are a vital part of Hip-Hop. The spirit of competition in records like Nas’ “Ether” and Jay-Z’s “The Takeover,” for example, whips fans into a frenzy and keeps artists on their toes. However, more often than not, diss records come out lame.

History has shown too many diss record attempts that ended up resonating with fans about as long as the latest Pastor Ma$e comeback. Most of these artists would have been better off waiting to see their adversary at a show and trying to deliver the fade. Instead, they chose to forsake their fans with three to four minutes of audio struggle.

We put together a list of some of these woefully awful diss tracks that left listeners confused and befuddled, while their adversaries got off easy.

Diggy Simmons – “Fall Down” [J. Cole Diss]

This light skin rapper vs. light skin rapper moment was so unnecessary.

Nicki Minaj – “Stupid Hoe” [Lil’ Kim Diss]

This. Song. Is. Horrible. Just admit it.

Ludacris “Bada Boom” [Big Sean & Drake Diss]

It’s not that Luda’s bars were weak, but no one really cared anymore.

Canibus – “J. Clone” [J. Cole diss]

Apparently aliens told Canibus to pen a diss record aimed at J. Coke. Most humans concurred it was wack. But hey, at least he apologized.

Joey Bada$$ – “Don’t Quit Your Day Job” [Lil B Diss]

We fux with Joey, but retaliating to a lame Lil B diss with a song whose instrumental flips Janet Jackson’s “That’s The Way Love Goes” is a waste of his talents.

Hammer – “Better Run Run” [Jay-Z Diss]

Hammer took offense to a Jay-Z line about going bankrupt. The Oakland rapper wasted more money with this song and video.

Charles Hamilton “J. Cole Diss” [Duh…]

The pink loving MC inexplicably dropped a J. Cole diss in 2012. No one cared.

Lil Wayne – “Ghoulish” [Pusha T diss]

Weezy dropped a 90 second snippet of “Ghoulish.” It was all the time we need to know this was an unfortunate decision.

Benzino – “Die Another Day” [Eminem diss]

Benzino will tell you he ethered Marshall Mathers on this one. Not many people will agree, though.

Ja Rule – Loose Change [50 Cent diss]

Listen to this, then listen to 50 Cent’s “Back Down.” End of discussion.
