Obama is pledging to donate $100 million in relief funds to Haiti.

According to The President, an initial amount of $100 million is going to help victims of the earthquake but that number is expected to grow over time.

Speaking on the forthcoming relief in a press conference President Obama assured those affected that help was on the way.

“None of this will seem quick enough if you have a loved one who’s trapped, if you’re sleeping on the streets, if you can’t feed your children. So today, you must know that help is arriving. Much, much more help is on the way.”

Additionally the first U.S. Army infantry troops are on the way to Haiti today from Fort Bragg in North Carolina to set up tents and other essentials in preparation for the arrival of another roughly 800 personnel from the division on Friday.

Vice President Joe Biden will also travel to South Florida to meet with members of the Haitian-American community.
