It’s easy to get that rappers are people too, and make mistakes like the rest of us. Sometimes, those errs in judgement get the attention of the media, forcing stars large and small to step up to the podium and apologize to the public.
Since these figures aren’t immune to poor behavior, there have been several instances over the years where a famous rap act had to get together with their public relations team, draft a statement, shoot a video and shake a lot of hands. Most times, but not always, a threat to income (like say a lost endorsement deal), has led to the public contrition.
Hip-Hop Wired looks at 11 rappers who have publicly apologized for acting a fool, spitting an offensive lyric, and other frowned upon and unfortunate decisions.

Everybody knows Wale can unleash fury via his Twitter account. The DC native did so on model Rosa Acosta in 2011. Wale later apologized on Hot 97 and cleared the air.
Veteran rapper Too $hort caught hell after a XXLMag.com video surfaced last year which featured the Oakland native essentially telling young boys how to perform s-xual assault. Working alongside writer dream hampton, Short Dog apologized and even sat down with us to talk about it.

Wu-Tang Clan mainstay Method Man ruffled feathers after speaking on Nas and Kelis’ court drama. Meth apologized after a show in Baltimore saying it wasn’t right for him to speak out of line.
Rick Ross really riled up the masses with his controversial date rape lyric over Rocko’s “U.O.E.N.O.” track. Rozay gave a soft apology during a radio interview, then later issued a lengthy statement. The MMG boss lost his Reebok shoe deal behind the verse.
The family of Emmett Till was not impressed by Lil Wayne apology over the controversial lyric using the name of the slain teen. Recently, Lil Wayne changed the line of the “Karate Chop (Remix)” and apologized onstage in Nashville, Tenn.
The Nas and Jay Z beef hit a fever pitch after the Brooklyn mogul aimed shots at Nas’ baby mother, Carmen. Mentioning baby seats and other slander, Jay’s mother made him go on Hot 97 to apologize.
Although Timbo isn’t really a rapper, he wrote a song for his upcoming album featuring lyrics where he’s apologizing for the beef between he and Jay Z. Keri Hilson also features on the track, and gives the reported Beyonce beef some attention.
The most recent rapper to step forward for offending a large group of people is North Carolina’s J. Cole. Cole’s line from he and Drake’s collaborative “Jodeci Back” featured some lines about autism. In a big move, Cole stepped up and took responsibility.
Kanye West’s 2009 MTV Video Music Awards interruption of Taylor Swift during her acceptance of the Best Female Award still hasn’t gone away. In 2010, when Yeezy tweeted quite a bit, the Chicago superstar used Twitter to offer an olive branch to Swift.
