Papoose is an interesting fellow to say the least. In 2005 The Brooklyn native was touted to be one of New York’s next crown holders. But since an alleged million plus dollar deal with Jive Records, Pap’s career has taken a turn for the worst, landing himself in the struggle rapper category.
Along with moments of poor judgement—like showing up uninvited to HOT 97’s 20th annual Summer Jam—are many more statements made by Pap that are slander worthy. Whether it’s critiquing his peers, defending the honor of his incarcerated wife Remy Ma or his self appointment as King Of New York, his supreme confidence has lead to the Thugafication rapper making a downright fool of himself.
In honor of his ill-fated mouth piece we present Papoose’s top 9 most outlandish statements. Some will anger you, some will confuse you and most will inspire hilarity. Feel free to discuss in the comments section.

“The mix tape is called King Of New York. The reason why I chose that title is because I am the king of New York.”

Yes, we were serious when we mentioned Pap crowned himself the King Of New York even though Jay Z , Nas and even Jadakiss are still spitting fire.
“He’ll never be able to shine my shoes, lyrically (in response to Kendrick Lamar).”

Papoose believes Kendrick Lamar’s 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards cypher freestyle was directed towards him. And we believe Pap thinks very highly of himself.
“I am the most feared MC, the industry is afraid of me, and that’s the only reason why I’m not in the position that I deserve to be in, but I keep resurfacing because you cannot deny talent, you cannot stop destiny.”

Are you scared to see Papoose shine?
“They got it from me. They jacked me. I remember when they first started printing them sh-ts.”
HOT 97
March 2013
Here Papoose argues he coined the term Nacirema, which is America spelled backwards, long before New Jersey waste management company Nacirema Industries was founded in 1992.
“I’m going on record – I don’t have no weaknesses.”
HOT 97
March 2013
As a rapper, Pap believes he has no weaknesses. Ironically we can name a couple right off top, though.
“I respect his hustle. His business mind is incredible. I’m not crazy about him as an artist. He’s alright.”
HOT 97
March 2013
When asked about Jay Z’s lyricism, Pap said “he’s alright.” Oh.
“That’s my record you know that right? That Versace sh-t man. I remixed it – biggest record right now.
DJ Vlad
September 2013
His version of Migos’ “Versace Versace” is the biggest record right now but ironically the interviewer, DJ Vlad, had not heard it.
“There is no one nicer than me in New York.”
Forbez DVD

We find this hard to believe with all struggle bars like “They know I stay with the strap like parts spelled backward” on his long delayed Nacirema Dream.
“I ain’t gonna lie, I laugh at a lot of ni–as over the years that do that. You laugh at them like I made him go change his verse. I made ni–as go and change their name on a track. I’m not tooting my own horn but I made ni–as wish they weren’t even born on tracks man.”
DJ Vlad

A forewarning to any rapper who wishes to collaborate with Papoose in the future – you’ll most likely want to change your name after.
