You have probably seen the trailer; Rap Radar’s Brian “B Dot” Miller getting barked on by Hot 97’s VP of Programming Ebro Darden. The verbal ether on the full Juan Epstein podcast is actually worse, but the two did come to a resolution, with Darden apologizing for screaming on the journalist/blogger.
But besides Miller and Darden going at it, there was plenty of good discussion about who should and shouldn’t critique Hip-Hop, what gets played on the radio and whether or not Hot 97 takes payola, among other topics. It’s when B Dot alluded to the NYC radio station taking checks in exchange for airplay when Darden proceeded to read him the riot act.
However, cooler heads prevailed, with Cipha Sounds and Peter Rosenberg also speaking their piece [Full Disclosure: The writer of this story is cool with B Dot, abut also thinks he’s bugging out for saying J Dilla is “overrated.”].
Check out the full Juan Epstein podcast with Elliott Wilson and B Dot on the next page.
