LEGO To Drop Working Nintendo Game Boy Set Later This Year

While PS5s, Xbox’s and Nintendo Switches may be dominating the gaming market these days, retro gaming is still very much a thing, and LEGO is releasing an interesting new set that allows you to get your 80s on in 2025… after putting it together yourself.
According to Hypebeast, LEGO has teamed with Nintendo to drop a new Game Boy model set that not only lets you build a replica of the classic 1980s handheld gaming device, but is even playable as it comes with a workable screen and interchangeable cartridges.
From Hypebeast:
LEGO is reviving handheld gaming nostalgia with its latest release: a near-life-size brick-built replica of the original Nintendo Game Boy. Announced today, the 421-piece LEGO Game Boy model celebrates the iconic handheld’s legacy with faithful details, including the A and B buttons, +Control Pad, contrast dial and even a functional Game Pak slot.
The set includes two interchangeable brick-built cartridges — The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and Super Mario Land — as well as swappable screens that replicate each game’s look, along with the classic Nintendo start screen.
If you were alive when this joint first dropped you know how magical it was even without the color or backlit screen. We might have to cop just for nostalgia’s sake.
The LEGO x Game Boy is set to release on Oct. 1 for a modest $60. Back when it first released in 1989, the Game Boy cost $90, which was absurd to 95% of parents who just didn’t understand how important it was to our early adolescence social status to own one of these. Great times.
Pre-orders for the device are live on the LEGO website. Will you be copping one of these joints? Let us know in the comments section below.
