Pharrell Williams is one of the most fashionable artists in the game, but nobody was prepared to see the producer donning what appeared to be an over-sized ranger hat at the 2014 Grammy Awards. As expected, Twitter went in on Skateboard P‘s hat choice with some hilarious jokes and memes.
Shortly after it was announced that the Virginia native won a Grammy for Best Producer, Non Classical, images of Pharrell on the red carpet blazed across screens. What stood out most in his simple outfit of blue jeans and red track jacket was a large hat that looked somewhat like the type worn by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, or Mounties.
The slander came in swift and heavy, and a lot of it was just good, old-fashioned ribbing. From comparisons to Harry Potter, to a hilarious side-by-side shot of a fast food chain’s logo, it’ll be long before Pharrell will live this down.
