A very cool looking Game Informer cover has revealed the next, and final installment in Rocksteady Studios‘ highly praised Batman series.
While details are still relatively sparse, even within the cover reveal, Warner Bros. jumped ahead of the gaming mag to reveal an epic trailer announcing the finale of the Arkham series.
Planning to hit stores sometime in 2014 — probably October, since that’s when the last Rocksteady effort arrived — Batman: Arkham Knight will be the final chapter of the Arkham trilogy. Originally, the game was held to the veil of video game secrecy until a GAME listing forced everyone’s hand. That same listing also made plain that the title will be available for next-gen gamers on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
According to the description, the game will take players “to the rooftop and now — the roads of Gotham as for the first time the iconic Batmobile becomes drivable”. Director Sefton Hill believes that Arkham Knight will allow Batman to “go out in style.”
The footage in the trailer appears to be pre-rendered, but with this being a next-gen title you can’t really tell if the game’s quality will be similar.
You can watch the reveal trailer on the next page.

Batman: Arkham Knight is set one year after the events of Batman: Arkham City and boasts an entirely new area of Gotham City that will allow gamers to call on the Batmobile at any time, and the map is three times larger than Arkham City.
Scarecrow appears to have returned to unite the villainous talents of Harley Quinn, Two-Face, and The Penguin. Internet sleuths have also culled from the Game Informer interview that Rocksteady Studios will also create their own baddie to be “the ultimate test for Batman”.
A proper gameplay video is promised later today, but our hope is that there will be some playable alternate versions of the Batmobile.
