Even though he has his hands involved in so many areas within Rap music, DJ Drama doesn’t have a history of over the top self promotion (think: DJ Khaled). Nevertheless, things got really interesting during his interview with The Breakfast Club.
With a recent appointment to the Atlantic Records’ A&R department, the Gangsta Grillz DJ stopped by to catch up with DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God. Drama fielded questions regarding his new position, his acclaimed mixtape series, the status of The Affiliates and why there is so much DJ on DJ hate.
Speaking of which, a very unexpected tension arose between Envy and Drama during the latter half of this 20 minute interview.
Therefore we present the 7 things we learned from The Breakfast Club DJ Drama interview (watch it in full on the last page). Do you think Envy has a point? Let us know in the comments section.

Young Thug
After all the controversy DJ Drama confirmed that Young Thug is no longer signed to Gucci Mane and is indeed signed to Lyor Cohen’s 300 Records.
The Affiliates
Even though Don Cannon and Drama had a period where they weren’t so chum, they have since reunited. He chalks it up to outside people getting in each of their ears that caused a separation.
A&R
DJ Drama is responsible for signing new talent but more so focused on developing the current roster on Atlantic Records which includes Que and Ty Dolla $ign.
Young Thug vs XXL
Drama ends the speculation and states that Young Thug declined his offer to be on the 2014 XXL Freshman cover.
Gansta Grillz
Drama would like to do a Gangsta Grillz with Drake. Thoughts?
HOT 97
At one point, DJ Drama was banned from HOT 97. DJ Envy points to the fact that Drama had a brief stint on Power 105 which is the mortal enemy of HOT 97.
DJ Envy
So DJ Envy was throwing shade to Drama the entire first half of the Q&A. Envy came clean and said it was because of the fact that Drama did not agree to do a Gangsta Grillz mixtape with The Breakfast Club when they originally launched their morning show on Power 105. Drama states that he was put in a tough position between Power 105 and HOT 97, so he decided to stay neutral. Thankfully Drama apologized and they seemingly are back friends.
