Even though Denzel Washington tends to play the same kind of roles these days (it’s usually a criminal or a crooked cop, but he mixes it up sometimes) and he  knows how to get people into theaters.

Washington’s latest film, The Equalizer, came in No 1 at the box office this weekend, earning $35 million earning the fourth-largest September opening in movie history. Not bad for a 59-year-old actor  who already has 12 consecutive movies to open with over $20 million.

Needless to say, he’s been bankable for a long time.

Hit the gallery to see some of his top grossing flicks (that don’t include Training Day).
