The Walking Dead is back, and the premiere episode of season five was loaded with all the gore, bullets, zombies and painstaking “What can go wrong, next?” angst that make this show so great.
Titled “No Sanctuary,” things begin promptly where they ended last season, with Rick Grimes’ weathered and beaten crew locked in a train car. The Terminus cannibals learned soon that they definitely f-cked with the wrong people, though.
There was also a surprise if you stayed past the credits. Check out the 10 best moments—yes, there are spoilers—from the season 5 premiere of The Walking Dead in the following pages.

A Louisville Slugger and a slaughterhouse. Yeah, ish did not start off too well for Rick, Daryl, Glenn and Bob.
Glenn avoided getting his head cracked by the bat thanks to a chatty Gareth (the guy who runs Terminus). We have to ask, why was Rick so calm while Gareth had a big ass knife near Bob’s eye, though?
What really prevented Glenn from getting cranium bashed in was Carol setting off an explosion with a creative mix of a high-powered rifle and fireworks. Bravo.
Carol was able to pull off her timely return thanks to turning Tyreese into a glorified baby sitter. Just saying.
What’s better than plain old walkers? Walkers that are on fire, that’s what.
The biggest dumb ass of the post-apocalyptic world struggle of the year award goes to this fool who was saved only to get chewed on by a walker moments later. Ya big dummy.
Carl didn’t do or say much this episode. Which is great because that kid can be majorly annoying.
Plenty of walkers caught the fade this episode, which is pretty much what a lot of us tune in for.
Rick was not f’ing around and wanted to go back and finish off whoever was left in Terminus.
The gang is all back together. Also, Carol managed to clean up all that zombie blood nicely, but that’s none of our business.
No sanctuary. Ya think?
