The current year has seen Monica Lewinsky emerge from seclusion and finally attempt to live a normal public life. Earlier in May, she offered up her commentary regarding BeyoncĂ©’s lyrical reference to her Bill Clinton scandal on the hit song “Partition.”
Now, the 41-year-old former White House intern has made the ultimate stride in being routinely visible. She’s joined Twitter.
Seeing that her name has been a constant punchline for the past 20 years, it didn’t take long for her account to be verified–and her mentions to become completely obliterated.
The irony of all this Lewinsky made her social media debut in efforts to promote her latest speaking engagement at the Forbes Under 30 Summit In Philadelphia for an event titled “Monica Lewinsky and the Internet’s Reputation Shredder.” Her campaigns as of late have primarily focused on anti-bullying methods.
That ancient reputation lives on thanks to the reception she got following her first two hashtag tweets.
Flip through the gallery below to see the beating the Monica Lewinsky Twitter account is taking. She’s likely in it for the long haul, though.
