A great man once said, “Mo money, mo problems.” And few things prove that adage true as these 15 celebs with embarrassing money trouble. Such is the nature of entertainment money.
For every Jay Z or Will Smith that stays getting money for decades, there’s another celebrity who had a brief run and overestimated their net worth, or just hired a terrible team of accountants and lawyers. Keep reading to see the shame that happens when the checks stop coming in.

Birdman
Lil Wayne isn’t the only person tired of not getting paid by Birdman. The Ivy Condo Association filed a $12.5 million lien against the Cash Money Records co-founder for allegedly bouncing checks and other unpaid fees.
Akon
For someone who allegedly owns a diamond mine, $51,000 seems like small change. Nevertheless, Southern Electric filed a lawsuit against Akon in 2012 after the singer supposedly refused to fork over the final $51K in charges from an estimated total of over $300,000 in renovations to his Georgia mansion.
Keri Hilson
The Jasmine Brand broke the news that singer/songwriter Keri Hilson was hit with a $5,000 lien by Georgia’s Inman Green Condo Association for unpaid fees, assessments, and costs of collection. It might not be that serious since many homes and condos have contractual language that starts the process after two missed payments. Then again, there is such a thing as auto pay.
Mathew Knowles
Beyonce’s estranged daddy was taxed for his inability to keep it in his pants. The mother of his third child took him to court in 2014 after missing child support payments, but Knowles ultimately had the payments decreased. It should be noted that his BM was on public assistance. Eight months later, a judge was granting the mother of Knowles fourth child $1,500 in child support.
Sean Kingston
Singer Sean Kingston saw two of his luxury cars get repossessed within a two week span in 2014. His Mercedes Benz G-Wagon was snatched after he allegedly missed three payments, then the ever-present cameras of TMZ caught him on film as his Bentley was hauled away in front of a luxury hotel. That will have you feeling suicidal.
Terrell Owens
In 2012, former NFL wide receiver and reality star Terrell Owens faced his third foreclosure of the year. Deutsche Bank foreclosed on his Florida property at the Trump International Resort. Three months prior, two of his Dallas, Texas condos were foreclosed.
Diamond
Various cameras caught Diamond getting her yellow Camaro repossessed at a Young Money video shoot in Atlanta in 2010. One of the same people shooting video during the repo ran up on Diamond and a friend at a local car wash with the same Camaro and another one. Maybe flaunting two whips after one gets hauled away isn’t the most prudent use of one’s finances.
Young Buck
In August of 2008, Young Buck was the target of an IRS raid behind approximately $300,000 in unpaid taxes. After attributing the matter to untrustworthy employees, lawyers, and accountants, Buck watched the IRS auction off some of his goods. He allegedly bought some of it back and snapped a few pictures as proof.
Bow Wow
In 2012, a Georgia bank snatched Bow Wow’s Lamborghini Murcielago when the rapper/actor allegedly fell behind on payments. Bow Wow blamed the matter of his missing quarter of a million dollar sports car on his accountants and reportedly gave them the axe. Now that he’s getting that CSI money from CBS, we probably won’t hear any more of these type of stories.
Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Lohan probably isn’t welcome at The Chateau Marmont. Lohan racked up a $46,000 tab at the swanky Hollywood hotel and was allegedly banned. Things got interesting when Lohan claimed the producers of a movie she was working on would pay the bill; they denied such claims. This was around the time she was getting busted for allegedly swiping necklaces and fur coats, so you do the math.
Lil Kim
In December of 2014, Lil Kim was hit with a federal tax lien by the good old boys at the Internal Revenue Service. This came four months after her former law firm, Dewey & LeBoeuf, sued her for $186,000 in what they alleged were past due legal fees.
Rich Dollaz
Love & Hip-Hop: New York star Rich Dollaz went from being in front of VH1’s cameras to the infamous perp walk. In February of 2015, Hudson County New Jersey sheriffs busted Rich on two outstanding warrants for failing to pay child support.
Lauryn Hill
Multi GRAMMY-winning singer Lauryn Hill knocked out three months in federal prison after pleading guilty to not filing tax returns on more than $1.8 million between 2005 and 2007.
Porsha Williams
TMZ reported Real Housewives Of Atlanta cast member Porsha Williams was in danger of possibly having her wages garnished after allegedly falling behind in homeowner’s dues on her condo. She was allegedly $17,959 behind in payments.
Soulja Boy
In 2011, after resolving a $3,571 tax lien in Mississippi, Soulja Boy was super soaked with a $26,000 lien by the IRS. Uncle Sam doesn’t play.
