Once again, Serena Williams is on the cover of Vogue magazine. This is a beautiful thing.
Williams was shot for the April 2015 issue’s cover by renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz. Ya know, the photog that allegedly stood up Kanye West and Kim Kardashian at their wedding.
As for Serena, despite her physique (actually, because of it), she isn’t checking for any heaving lifting at the gym.
Says Vogue:
“Nowadays everybody goes to the gym,” Serena says. “But when I won my first Grand Slam, I had never been.” Even then, however, she was ambivalent about her naturally muscular physique, refusing to lift weights lest her arms get bigger. “I hated my arms,” she remembers. “I wanted them to look soft.” To this day, she uses TheraBands instead of weights to avoid overdeveloping her muscles.
