Being the centerpiece on a hit TV show has an extremely big downside. While predominant film actors have an easy time taking on roles throughout their field, TV stars are easily identified with that breakout character, in turn, making it easier to typecast the individuals. It doesn’t help that having a show in syndication doesn’t exactly pay the bills of a penthouse.
Just ask Darius McCrary, who you probably know better as “Eddie” from Family Matters. He was just arrested in Oakland for failing to pay his child support.
He’s not the only one who has learned life after TV can lead to career death. Peep this list of former sitcom stars who couldn’t win after the show ended.

“Balki” from Perfect Strangers has made headlines for the first time in decades after it’s currently being reported that four of his Pennsylvania properties are being foreclosed on since he owes the bank more than $270,000.
After being written off Family Matters for being a useless character, Foxworth started abusing drugs and even tried her hand a pornographic movies for a while. She was last spotted asking Oprah and Dr. Drew to get her on the right track.
The former child star has managed to erase her past legacy to for her current future as a psychiatric screw loose who talks first and thinks second, or third.
The real life Stephanie Tanner of Full House got addicted to drugs right after the show ended and has seen all three of her marriages crumble. There hasn’t been many notable acting appearances since, either.
Cosmo Kramer learned that he was only funny on Seinfeld when a 2006 L.A. comedy club incident had him responding to hecklers with the n-word. He’s been a fairly public recluse since, unless you want to count 2014’s Kirstie, which was cancelled after one season.
Screech is currently embroiled in a lawsuit where he allegedly stabbed a man in a bar fight. Oh, and there was that Saved by the Bell biopic nobody like as well. And that porno…
The That ’70s Show had a highly publicized drug problem that would lead to her demise when she died at a rehabilitation center from an accidental overdose in August 2013.
After Zoey 101 had its run, Underwood did a few odd roles here and there but made his biggest headlines when he was popped for drugs in Florida in 2012.

The former cute and cuddly kid on The Hughleys apparently got gooned out in Stockton, CA and beat a murder rap in 2012.
Best known for his portrayal as “Andy” on Family Ties, Bonsall quit acting when he got older, started an angry rock band and began to get into loads of trouble circa 2009.
Although countless boys swooned over Campbell during her In the House heyday, she would go on to exhibit schizophrenia behavior, most recently being popped–and banned–from the Waffle House.
Kimberly on Diff’rent Strokes began using drugs while filming on the show, and the rest of her life was a tabloid-feeding whirlwind. Which, tragically ended on May 8, 1999 when she committed suicide by taking painkillers.
Like Plato, Bridges battled drug addiction in the public eye and so far, he’s been able to claim victor over the never-ending fight. His career however, has taken some hits.
Coleman’s real life mirrored a sensational sitcom in its own right. After Diff’rent Strokes ended, he was forced to sue his own parents for his own money, battle depression and suicide attempts and do roles which obviously poked fun at himself. His life ended without fanfare on May 28, 2010 when he succumbed to a head wound after suffering an epidural hematoma.
