Police in Grapevine, Texas have detained and arrested a man who allegedly threw his girlfriend’s 5-year-old in traffic on a busy highway after arguing with the child’s mother.

Michael Walker was arrested after he grabbed the boy and threatened to hurt him in response to a heated argument and physical assault against the boy’s mother.

According to the Grapevine Police Walker and his girlfriend were in a heated argument when Walker hit her in the side of the head while she was driving. The young woman immediately pulled over and tried to flag down help, but not before Walker turned his anger and his attention toward her five-year-old son.

The child managed to free himself from Walker’s grasp and that’s when the police say that the suspect shoved the boy into oncoming traffic.

On the 911 tape, you can hear drivers slamming on the breaks to avoid hitting the child. One motorist lost control and his vehicle flipped on its side after attempting to avoid impact.

Amazingly the child was able to walk away unharmed with only minor cuts and bruises.  Walker however was taken into custody.
