Like many of us, DMX is a man who’s in constant battle with his demons. While he was able to hide his troubles during the beginning and middle of his successful rap and acting career, the tail end of his multi-platinum run revealed a man carrying a cross that would’ve flattened lesser men. In other words put some respeck on that man’s name.

Today (June 28) a very animated Dark Man X stopped by The Breakfast Club and sat down with Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy, and Angela Yee where he breaks down – at times with tears in his eyes – his faith in God, his battle with addiction, and where his relationship with Jay-Z went sour.

Here are the 11 things we learned from DMX on The Breakfast Club.

1. Loosies

DMX uses loose pieces of paper to write his rhymes instead of books in case he loses an entire book of rhymes.

2. Pastor X?

DMX does plan on eventually becoming a pastor. Truth be told he seems like he’d be great at it.

3. Out Of Body Experience

Earlier this year X had a asthma attack which made his heart stopp for 4 minutes and resulted in an out of body experience.

4. Puff Daddy

Before signing to Ruff Ryders, X was close to signing with Bad Boy before Puff told him “Your voice is too rough and I don’t think your marketable.” Later one Puff tried to lure him away from Ruff Ryders but X didn’t take the bait.

5. Drake

Even though he’s not a Drake fan he was humbled by the fact that Drake called him to praise him and ask for his permission to sample one of his songs.

6. One Wish

If he could have God grant him something it would be a “smile a day.” We’re pretty sure he gets that already though.

7. Family Man

X is expecting his 15th child, but insists that he wears condoms that unfortunately tend to break.

8. License To Drive

DMX still doesn’t have his driver license, but when he does Swizz Beatz promised him a ’66 Mustang.

9. Ja Rule

He squashed his beef with Ja Rule at BET’s Hip Hop Honors when they were seated close to one another. Still doesn’t bring us any close to that highly anticipated and long awaited DMX, Ja Rule, and Jay-Z Murder Inc album though. Not to mention he and Jay have yet to bury the hatchet.
