Christina Milian caught the wrath of Twitter users after she tweeted Wednesday night that #AllLivesMatter, inviting a firestorm of critique. The R&B singer has since deleted the tweet and apologized for the offense, but it wasn’t enough to calm the chaos that visited her mentions until Thursday morning.
Milian tweet from Wednesday read, “#AllLivesMatter Let’s Become Better Together” complete with racially diverse emojis throwing up peace signs. While Milian thought the hashtag meant racial inclusion and harmony, Twitter quickly let her know that it has been used as a divisive counter to the #BlackLivesMatter movement.
To Milian’s credit, she’s been taking on the criticism well and standing her ground by stating that what she meant was far greater than the hashtag’s typical definition yet that didn’t ease up the response one bit.
