Donald Glover disappointed millions of fans when he announced he was retiring his Childish Gambino alter-ego. However, it seems like the Atlanta star isn’t quite done with his musical moniker.

During an interview with BBC Radio 1 this past Tuesday (August 7), DJ Clara Amfo said she didn’t know how to address Glover being that she didn’t know if she was talking to the actor or the rapper.

“Because it’s Donald Glover, though,” Amfo Said. “But then there’s Childish Gambino, but I knew there’s an issue about retiring the name.”

Glover then shocked listeners when he stated, “You still have a lot more time of calling me [Childish Gambino] if you want.”

Well that’s interesting, to say the least.

Just a few months ago Glover broke the news at the Governer’s Ball that he was done with Childish Gambino because he refuses to be a “third sequel” in the age of trilogies and that his next album would be his last.

Now that he’s saying that he’d respond to the Gambino for “a lot more time” does that mean that he’s decided against retiring the name or that his next LP is a long way from being released and ending the CG era?

The ladder would make sense since Glover’s star is ascending to Super Saiyan levels and has landed him big time Hollywood roles including playing Simba in the live-action Lion King and a young Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Han Solo Star Wars spinoff film.

Whatever the case may be we don’t know for sure what he meant with his statement, but what we do know is that we can’t wait much longer for some new material from Glove—whether it’s in the form of music or his hit TV series, Atlanta.
