According to a spokeswoman for Aretha Franklin, the singer’s son was severely beaten at a gas station in Detroit on Monday night.
Police believe Eddie Franklin was attacked by possibly three people and is undergoing surgery at a hospital to treat his injuries. While the motives are unclear, police are currently investigating the attack.
Detroit police spokeswoman Eren Stephens said a female acquaintance was with Franklin just before the beating.
The woman walked into the gas station, and when she returned, the assault had taken place.
Police said the woman then drove Franklin to the hospital, dropped him off and headed to a police station to file a report.
Aretha Franklin has not publically released a statement, but HipHopWired will keep you updated when it becomes available.
