Singer Aretha Franklin is speaking to the public for the first time regarding the attack on her son at a Detroit gas station, Monday.

The Queen of Soul said in a statement Thursday that she wanted to clarify some inaccuracies that have been reported.

In a statement through her publicist, Franklin revealed that her son Eddie Franklin underwent surgery after arriving at a hospital emergency room early Tuesday morning.

She stated because of the brutal beating he had to have his jaw wired shut.

She also says that her son’s girlfriend gave the wrong location of Monday night’s attack.

As recently reported, Eddie Franklin was pummeled by three people at a Detroit area gas station.

The suspects were described as two men and a woman who appeared to be in their late teens. All three were African American and one of the men had dreadlocks.

An unidentified person at the station took Franklin to an area hospital and then filed a police report according to authorities.
