A 68 year-old Chicago grandmother who shot a 12-year-old boy after she was attacked with a brick states that she is relieved that the boy only suffered minor injuries to his arm and will be okay.

In an interview with FOX News in Chicago, Margret Matthews states that although she doesn’t regret defending herself, she never intended to harm the rambunctious teen.

“I prayed for him, I’m praying for him,” Mrs. Matthews said in the interview. “This is an unfortunate situation that couldn’t be helped. But if I hadn’t tried to protect myself, I might not be standing here now.

According to police the 12-year-old boy and his 13-year-old accomplice had thrown bricks at Matthews’ house breaking out two windows. After calling police and waiting for an hour, the boys returned, throwing more bricks, with one hitting Matthews in the chest; according to reports, that’s when she fired several shots in self-defense.

Matthews, who police state will not be charged in the incident, said she did not try to hit the boy.

“God knows I didn’t and I’m so glad that it wasn’t any worse than it is,” Matthews continued. “I’m so glad that he’s gonna be all right… physically he’s gonna be fine, and I hope mentally he can be all right.”

Although the boy suffered minor injuries, both the 12 and 13 year olds have been charged with aggravated assault of a senior.

SMH, this is why parents need to be parents. If you saw your bad a** kids throwing bricks, why wouldn’t YOU stop him?! He better be lucky that a shot in the arm is all he received.
