A West Haven, Connecticut man is in police custody after authorities say he punched an officer without provocation and attacked and bit his police dog.
Police say 23-year old Roderick Lewis approached Officer Scott Bloom and asked him for a bag of “dust” referring to the drug PCP.
When the officer noticed the man fidgeting with the waist band of his pants, he ordered him to stop and Lewis attacked.
Officer Bloom reports that his K-9, Onyx, leapt from the patrol car and bit Lewis but was also attacked and bit on the leg.
After freeing Lewis from the animal he was arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer, disorderly conduct and cruelty to animals.
