Over the past few years Troy Ave has become Hip-Hop fans’ favorite punching bag and while such online animosity would’ve broken most rappers by now, the BK rapper has kept chugging along. Remaining defiant in the eyes of his haters and headstrong in his belief that he’s here for a reason, Troy Ave isn’t phased by all the slander he’s been getting since his album flopped like a disk.
A week after once again stirring up social media because he insinuated he’d take the stand in Taxstone’s trial, the Trop stopped by The Breakfast Club to talk about said subject while also opening up as much as he legally can about his current case, growing as a man, and why he doesn’t feel his album, Major Without A Deal, really flopped.
Here are the 6 things we learned from Troy Ave on The Breakfast Club.
1. Major Paper
Talking about how Major Without A Deal only sold a few thousand copies (30 physical), Troy says he actually sold 5,000 units in 3 days. Also he only spent $5,000 to cut that record and made $100,000 off sales. That’s actually respectable.
2. Taking The Stand
Explaining the lines in the controversial“2 Legit 2 Quit” where Troy suggested he might take the stand against Taxstone, he says he’s never taken the stand and all that talk about it is nonsense. He won’t say whether or not he will take the stand should he have to because his lawyer forbade him from talking about the case.
3. Growth
Troy ave admits that he was being “ignorant” when he spoke about Capital STEEZ’s suicide and gives his condolences to his family. That being said he also says he doesn’t regret it because him being “ignorant” got him where he is today.
4. The Golden Child?
Referring to himself as “a miracle of God,” Troy feels that anyone who goes against him “fall to misfortune” because he’s so “pure of heart.” Well, he’s not totally wrong in feeling that sentiment.
5. Beef
Talking about his beefs, Troy says that he sees the “Asanova” thing as a “Pimpin’ Curly” skit and won’t entertain it anymore. As for his situation with Joey Bada$$, he realizes he might’ve went too far with that one.
6. Banga
Speaking about the rift between himself and Ronald ‘Banga’ McPhatter’s family, he said he hopes to one day reconcile with them but it’s still raw for him after they talked down on him.
