Throughout his tenure in the rap game, G-Unit’s Young Buck’s had one hell of a journey over the decades. Starting out as a young independent rapper who found his way onto Juvenile’s tour but before ultimately ended up a G-Unit soldier, Young Buck’s paid his dues and reaped the rewards before falling on hard time.
Today the Ca$hville Ten-A-Key rapper stopped by The Breakfast Club to talk about his journey that’s led up to today and spoke about why he never signed with Juvenile, where things went sour with 50 Cent, and how that fight at the Vibe Awards had long lasting consequences on his life.
Here are the 10 things we learned from Young Buck on The Breakfast Club.

1. Ca$h Money
Youngbuck was never actually signed to Ca$h Money Millionaires but was affiliated with them through Juvenile before he eventually joined G-Unit. He remembers he was given a contract to sign with UTP but he simply put it under his bed on the bus and kept on with his life.

2. G-Unit Connect
It turns out that the Ca$h Money bus driver had a relationship with Sha Money XL (50 Cent’s old manager) and what was going to be a Juvenile and 50 Cent collaboration turned into a situation that led to Young Buck getting discovered by Lloyd Banks and 50 Cent.

3. Death Row
Before signing to G-Unit, Buck recalls that Juvenile took him and the crew to California to spend a few weeks with Death Row Records. Suge Knight was going to sign Juvenile to the label, but the deal never went through.

4. Abandoned In Cali
The day that Juve split on him and the crew in California, Buck remembers that he, Juve’s brother and everyone else was looking for Juvenile who simply disappeared on everyone. When Suge called them up and they couldn’t produce Juvenile, a few minutes later the hotel called them and told them they had to leave the premises. Buck thinks that Juve had left to settle some legal issues and though he’s spoken to Juve over the years about other things, they’ve never spoken about that.
5. Cash Money Millionaire
Buck remembers that before he even dropped his debut album, Straight Outta Ca$hville, he was already a millionaire thanks to his profits from the Roc The Mic tour. Straight Outta Ca$hville was a really underrated and overlooked album by the way. That joint had more than a handful of bangers.

6. Tax Problems
While Buck says he was basically a millionaire off that tour alone, he kinda forgot only half was his thanks to Uncle Sam. Though spending big money on jewelry and cars was bad, he says his worst mistake was leasing his cars and homes instead of buying them out right. He does say 50 helped him pay off some of his taxes but in the midst of that help he and 50 began to develop some problems in their relationship.

7. Rift With 50
Young Buck says that his friendly demeanor with some of 50’s rivals like The Game, The Lox, and Dip Set led to the deterioration of his and 50’s relationship. Buck says if given the opportunity again, he wouldn’t have acted any differently with said rivals. He does say he was surprised when 50 put out that audio of Buck getting emotional over the phone and didn’t speak to 50 or anyone in G-Unit for 7 straight years. It wasn’t until Buck got out of jail and reached out to 50 that they came to an understanding about each other and squashed their beef.

8. Social Media
Buck feels that if social media would’ve been as big back when G-Unit was poppin’ as it is now there would’ve been a lot of “dead rappers” because that time in the game was realer than it is now.

9. Hard Times For Self
Aside from Boosie and 2 Chainz, Buck revealed that when he was doing his stretch in the bing (for a gun he didn’t even know was in his home) not a single person from the music industry that he knew reached out to him. But he also says he didn’t get a single visit from anyone while he was locked up.
10. Vibe Awards
The infamous night of the Vibe Awards when Dr. Dre got snuck by someone, Buck says he knew something was going to go down when he saw Suge and Death Row mobbing. He says when it went down he picked up the fork to protect himself and it actually worked. Unfortunately that fork led to him getting charged with attempted murder, which was then dropped to aggravated assault, which was then dropped to simple assault. To throw salt in the wound that was the felony used to convict him with the gun charge 6 years later. Even after all that he just spoke to Dr. Dre for the first time in years just a month ago. He’s executive producing his next project, Unexpected.
