David Banner, Estelle And Daley “Benz”

David Banner, Estelle and British soul singer Daley are teaming up for a new track inspired by songstress Janis Joplin.

Entiteld “Benz”, the track brings the three artists exclusively for British based style publication Blag Magazine.

Inspired by Joplin’s lyrics “Oh Lord, won’t you buy me…” “Benz” features a harmonious and upbeat flow inspired by Banner’s Mississippi roots.

With a new melody and lyrics, the track will be released April 18, 2011 via iTunes.

Additionally, the making of the “Benz” video, photos, and interviews with Estelle, David Banner and Daley will be released as well.

Sally A. Edwards, who co-owns BLAG with twin sister Sarah J. Edwards released a statement on the artists’ collaboration for her magazine saying,

“The song still resonates with all of us and when we came together on the meaning for the new version, we thought it should be about ambition and triumph. The fact it’s the 125th anniversary of the car is symbolic and the perfect tie-in.”

Christoph Horn, Director Global Communications Mercedes-Benz Cars, also commented on the collaboration saying,

“We were honored that these creative artists chose to record a song about the Mercedes-Benz brand and after hearing about their project it was an easy decision to work with BLAG magazine to lend our support.”
