Three men have been found guilty for plotting to blow up planes, by way of liquids in carry-on luggage, on flights from Britain to the U.S.

According to CNN, Abdullah Ali, Assad Sarwar and Tanvir Hussein were all charged and found guilty with conspiracy to murder. Five other men were found not guilty.

In August 2006, the men were arrested in London for devising a plan to detonate airplanes in flight with explosive liquids in soft-drink bottles.

Sentencing could take place as soon as Thursday, a court spokeswoman said.

As a result of the exposure of the plot, security measures across the world spiked with urgency and introduced limited amounts of liquids allowed on aircrafts. The motion, which was introduced over night, caused major delays and resulted in several cancelled flights.

Authorities have since eased the limits, although restrictions on the amount of liquid allowed on planes still apply at certain airports and on certain routes.
