Producer Polow Da Don Launches Foundation F.O.C.U.S.
Known for producing hits such as Rich Boy's “Throw Some D's,” Nas' “Hero,” and Keri Hilson's “Turnin Me On,” super-producer Polow Da Don has set his sights on providing more for the community.
Partnering with the American Cancer Society and Upscale magazine, the producer along with his label, Zone 4, Inc, will be launching the F.O.C.U.S. foundation. Standing for “Focusing on Completion until Successful,” it concentrates on promoting a desire for education, interpersonal skills, networking and marketability within the community.
To provide assistance, the foundation will be implementing numerous programs, seminars and panels in order to ensure that success is attained in producing educated and goal-orientated people.
On July 16, the foundation will be hosting a pre-launch called “Cancers For A Cause” and it will be located at the W Atlanta Downtown. The focus of this launch is geared towards providing education and spreading awareness on cancer as it has become ranked second in America as being a leading cause of death. By 2010, a recent study from the International Agency for Research on Cancer has predicted that cancer will topple heart disease and be ranked number one. The event will also feature music and artistic expression such as spoken word or poetry.
“Cancer affects everyone, and we want to take this opportunity to educate and raise awareness amongst our peers and the Atlanta community as a whole,” states Mia A. Welsh, General Manager of Zone 4, Inc.
The pre-launch will also feature the 2nd year anniversary fashion show from Zone 4, Inc. called “Full Moon: A Night of Stars” which will take place at Club Opera. This event is more of a statement and will showcase the continued and rising success of Zone 4, Inc. and the future success that will come from the foundation. An after party will conclude the night once the event is over.
On November 25, 2008, Polow's record label held their 2nd annual “Zone 4 Give Thanks Carnival” in Atlanta. Turkeys were given out and residents were able to register with Southwest Atlanta to have their mortgage/rent paid for a full year.
