Documentary On Murder of Jam Master Jay To Be Released

NEWS

Even though he met his tragic end in 2002, the memory of Run DMC DJ Jam Master Jay still continues to live on. Being worked on for the past 5 years, a documentary is set to be release that will dissect the murder of Jay as a trailer was released. The work is titled “Two Turntables and a Microphone.”

The project was initially started by Jay's cousin, Stephon “Phonz” Watford. It premiered back in June 2008 at the 9th Annual Hollywood Black Film Festival at the Writers Guild Theater.

Interviews with the likes of Onyx, Rev. Run, Russell Simmons and others that were peers or associates of the DJ were conducted that will provide their accounts of their encounters with Jay as well as their thoughts on the murder, which has yet to be solved.

Jay's murder took place on October 30 where he was shot and killed in a Merrick Boulevard recording studio in Jamaica, Queens. Speculation swirled as some believed that Kenneth “Supreme” McGriff had a hand in the incident as Jay worked closely with rapper 50 Cent who had released the track “Ghetto Qu'Ran” where he talked about McGriff's drug history.

Filmmakers behind the project have not stated that they know who the actual killer is, but feel that at least two people within the DJs inner circle are aware of who is responsible and have yet to step forward. Along with Jay being shot, Urieco Rincon was also in the studio and suffered a shot to the ankle, but survived.

The film will see Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson being interviewed, but will also showcase his ability behind the scenes as he will have his first try at being an executive producer for the upcoming release. Originally the documentary was planned to come as a package with the album Before I Self Destruct as well as the movie with the album title. As the album has had consistent push-backs, there has been no word if it will still be coming with the album which is set for release on September 29.

As most have agreed, this act of violence cannot be deemed simply as being random and when this film finally surfaces to a big screen to shed light on what happened, someone may step forward to finally close this case.
