Ludacris Calls For Philanthropy At National Press Conference

Christopher ‘Ludacris' Bridges is noted for always giving back to his hometown of Atlanta. As previously reported, he helped out people affected by the floods that swept through the area by donating $10,000 to Sam's Club and Home Depot for relief efforts. Now the avid activist is taking his push for community philanthropy nationwide. He's set to speak at the National Press Club luncheon to promote the benefits of philanthropic endeavors at the end of this month.  

Ludacris previewed his speech in a press release saying,

“In today's world we have new issues and new challenges. The old way of looking at these issues and challenges have not rendered the outcomes we want. Logical thinking, while necessary is not sufficient -- we need lateral thinking (thinking outside our current frame of reference). We need a new type of leadership."

The National Press Club luncheon will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m. Ludacris will deliver his speech at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2009, followed by a question-and-answer session. His speech will be come before his Ludacris Foundation's annual Benefit Dinner in Washington, D.C.

He is also making headlines as he prepares for the BET Hip-Hop Awards taking place this weekend in Atlanta. The MC suprised 20 low-income Atlanta teens from the Operation Peace organization a suprise invitation to his rehearsals for the awards Thursday. The teens were allowed to watch Cris and Lil Scrappy prep for their performance Saturday.
