Phi Beta Sigma Sued By Hazing Victim's Parents

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated is feeling the wrath of parents whose son died after being hazed. 20-year-old Donnie Wade Jr. died October 20 at a pre-dawn exercise with his soon to be “brothers.”

The biology major attended Prairie View A&M University where he was put on a strict bread and water diet,  paddled and on an extensive exercise regimen believed to have contributed to his death.

On the morning of his passing, he passed out during an early morning exercise routine with fellow pledges and organization leaders.

According to the lawsuit, the chapter's membership director, "Frat Brother Jack," told the others that "Donnie was all right and that he was just tired."

The lawsuit then says that when he wouldn't get up, others splashed water on his face and put him in a car, to drive him home.

Only then did they decide to take him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The lawsuit also states that the members of the fraternity denied help from a passerby and never dialed 911.

Following his death, the University suspended all activities of the fraternities and sororities on campus.

His mother, Katrina, spoke out against Phi Beta Sigma saying,

“I will not rest until I am sure no other families will go through what we have!”

Katrina and her husband, Wade I, are suing Prairie View A&M, “Frat Brother Jack” and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated for $97 million in damages.
