Birdman Offers Words of Advice for Lil Wayne
“It's about him right now. I got to deal with a situation I've never had to deal with in my life. It ain't cool with me, but we have to live through it.”
Recent photos of Birdman sporting his new “5-Star Stunna” tattoo would come to make some believe that he is fully living life at this point. With Young Money on the brink of exploding into the mainstream and a slew of artists with potential to hit major independently, Cash Money Records is one of the last major standing labels.
With Lil Wayne leading the charge, the label was able to be revived even after losing core members such as Mannie Fresh and Juvenile.
As Wayne faces a possible year, however, a father must deal with watching his son go behind bars. That leaves the question to the future of Cash Money when Weezy goes to serve his bid.
T.I.'s sentence has left Grand Hustle remotely silent, so what could that mean for Young Money?
Fresh off the release of his latest album Pricele$$, Birdman spoke with the Associated Press and spoke on his advice to his son as far as where his focus should be before doing his time.
“To keep doing what he love-music. That's the only thing we've got. You take that away from us, we really don't need to live. Music, that's the only thing that gets the stress off your mind to make you feel better. It's how good it sounds after you've done it. The enjoyment of it.”
For those that believe that a confined Wayne means a drought of material, Baby deters such a thought and assures that a possible 6 months doesn't mean that there will be a stoppage in music from the Rapper Eater, so expect to hear music still.
“Of course. I don't know how many. It's up to him. It's his world. My son is his own boss. Whatever he wants to do, we'll back him up.”
Basically running the rap game as it stands now, Birdman also added some words in relation to Cash Money Records and their position on the charts compared to other labels.
“Now I don't see any top labels. I look around and see all those people who did it before me. To me, the labels, I don't see no company with constant success with a clique. At some point, there was a lot of people doing this. It used to be crowded. I see a lot of people who have don't it, and now don't see them.”
As a father has to deal with the pain of saying good-bye to his son as he must fight the world alone, one thing for certain is the fact that being down never means that someone is completely out.
