Legendary Hip-Hop group Public Enemy will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their classic album Fear of a Black Planet as a part of the University of Iowa’s Hip-Hop exhibit and have also announced plans for their 71st multi-continent tour.
The University of Iowa exhibit entitled “Two Turntables and a Microphone: Hip-Hop Contexts” features Hip-Hop Activist Harry Allen‘s “Part of the Permanent Record: Photos from the Previous Century”.
In addition to the display, Allen will kick off a panel discussion celebrating the 20th anniversary of Public Enemy’s groundbreaking album. The panel will include Public Enemy frontman Chuck D, Allen, and PE co-founders Hank and Keith Shocklee (members of the group’s original production unit, the Bomb Squad).
The group will also host a Q&A about Fear of A Black Planet, which turns 20-years-old this Spring.
The Fear of A Black Planet 20th Anniversary Celebration is takes place April 1st at The University of Iowa and is free and open to the public.
Harry Allen’s “Two Turntables and a Microphone: Hip-Hop Context” exhibit opened on Sunday (March 27) and remains at the University until June 27.
In other news, Public Enemy also announced that they will launch their 71st tour, which features stops throughout North America, Europe, Africa Canada and Australia.
The seven month tour kicks off in Winnepeg at the Burton Cummings Theatre and ends in Brisbane at Sunset Sounds.
