VH1’s annual special highlighting the success and accolades of Hip-Hop will have to continue with one less southern rap representative hitting the stage.

Plies is announcing that he will not perform at the VH1 Hip-Hop Honors despite  being confirmed to perform in March.

As previously reported Plies pushed up the release the date of his Goon Affiliated album from May 25th to June 8th and a result he now faces a scheduling conflict.

Speaking on his decision to cancel Plies released a statement saying that he chose an opportunity to connect with fans instead of performing for the ceremony.

“I had to make a choice between personally meeting with my fans during my album promo tour or performing at the VH1 Hip Hop Honors and the choice was easy –fans come first.”

The Hip-Hop Honors are paying tribute to the Dirty South this year and will celebrate the music of Jermaine Dupri, J Prince of Rap-A-Lot Records, Luther “Luke” Campbell, The 2 Live Crew, Master P, Organized Noize and Timbaland.

The Hip-Hop Honors air June 7th at 9 p.m. on VH1.

Goon Affiliated hits stores June 8th and features Young Jeezy, Fabolous and Keri Hilson.
