RZA Addresses Alleged South Diss & Jay Electronica [Video]

Legendary Shaolin MC and Wu-Tang member RZA has decided to address statements regarding Southern MCs that offended New Orleans emcee Jay Electronica.

In an interview with MTV.com, RZA states that although the interview containing the controversial statement was made years ago, he stands behind what he says stating that his knowledge came from a personal conversation with Master P.

“Master P [and I] had a talk about this years ago, I was speaking on the education level in the South and how brothers drop out in the sixth grade,” Rza explained.  “Some of them because they have to go to work, some of them because of the poverty, some because they're not interested in the education system... just a lot of crazy things that people from up North had evolved from.”

RZA explained that the comments weren't made to be disrespectful, but to shed insight on the diverse styles.

“When I was doing this article, I was taking about my own family at first. My family comes from the South,” Rza continued. “They frying fat back in the kitchen, Grandpops didn't have more than a sixth-grade reading level. My grandma was a welfare mom.”

so is he saying these things dont happen up north?? seriously? thats just crazy. the ghettos up north are FULL so if this is true they are not using their supposed intelligence to get ahead. its funny. i was reading something about the history of black ppl in this country and one part spoke on how when the blacks from the north came down to start helping the blacks from the south they came at them like they were better than them, and didnt understand hwo to get the message across without being disrespectful and condescending. its the same thing today but im sorry seems to me blacks are struggling everywhere especially upstate. now i agree the truth is the truth but its still all about how you come at ppl. he makes it seem as if these problems only exist in the south and if thats truly how he feels then he's not nearly as intelligent as he thinks

This is silly. The man just said he had this conversation years ago with Master P ( the most known and successful southern rapper/businessmen. Everyone has the right to their own opinion. The response clearly states that he has some understanding due to his family history. I still see RZA as an intelligent rapper. I've never sat down and had conversation with him. But, your playing yourself if your going to question a persons intelligence from some years old comments that have been taken out of context. Bobby/RZA, keep killin em' brotha. People with some sense will read your comment, research and develop their own opinion. Haters are like roaches...you can't ever get rid of all of them.
