The Roots Host Their 4th Annual Picnic With Wiz Khalifa, Nas, Yelawolf

The Roots held their 4th annual picnic on Saturday in Philadelphia at the Festival Pier. A bunch of indie artists took the stage and headlining the night was Wiz Khalifa, Nas and The Roots themselves. Fans got to see Wiz bring out hometown favorites The Young Gunz who performed their classic hits. He also invited Beanie Sigel and Freeway to the stage to perform "Do It Again" and "Roc The Mic."
Alabama's own Yelawolf had an energetic set and the audience was granted an opportunity to witness Grammy winner Esperanza Spalding. Members of The Roots supported Ms. Spalding as she alternated between playing an upright bass and an electric guitar and let the people know, "Jazz is not back, it never went away."
The Roots ended the night rocking out to their hits, they brought Peedi Peedi on stage and finally their featured guest Nas went in over the live instruments performing "One Mic," "It Ain't Hard To Tell," and "Made You Look."
Finally The Roots paid tribute to the legendary Gil Scott-Heron.
