Byron Harvey wanted to get his hands on as much stolen merchandise as possible, and wasn’t above using his pants to carry out his thievery. The 38-year-old Florida resident stuffed nearly $450 worth of merchandise in his pants at the end of a three-day drug bender of “doing powder and pills.”

According to the police report, an Indian River County deputy was called to a department store last week, over shoplifting accusations. Harvey was found in the dressing room “burning plastic packaging off items,” and stuffing merchandise in his pants. All in all, he attempted to get away with clothes, shoes, cologne, and a watch totaling $449.97.

Once he was taken to jail, authorities found Clonazepam pills in his pockets. The drug is used to treat panic attacks, but Harvey claims that the pills belonged to his girlfriend, who previously borrowed his pants.

Harvey was charged with shoplifting over $300 worth of merchandise, possession of a controlled substance, and resisting arrest.

Oddly enough, he falls pretty low on the scale of theft tactics, since using his pants was a pretty lazy way of stealing. Three Texas teens were so serious about getting their hands on Air Jordans that they actually cut a hole in the roof of a Houston mall to grab the sneakers.

That’s dedication.
