2 Men & A Woman Charged In Shooting Death Of Partially Blind Aspiring Rapper
Police in Raleigh, North Carolina arrested three suspects in the shooting death of a disabled aspiring rapper, Wednesday (Oct. 17). Two men and a woman were taken into custody for the homicide of Jose Antonio Baez, who was killed at his home over the weekend.
David Lewis Byrd, 23, and Ernestine DeWanda Hinton, 25, were both picked up and charged with murder early Wednesday, while the third person, 24-year-old Demetrius Lee Morgan was arrested later in the day and taken to Wake County Detention Center where he is being held without bond. Authorities believe that Baez lost his life at the same location as an armed robbery, two days earlier. Police were called to a home in Southeast Raleigh where 27-year-old doctor, Aal-Nubiaimhoteppokorohamz,claimed to have been bashed in the head with a gun, then jacked for $140 and a Macbook Pro computer.
Police arrested 20-year-old Dominique Marquel McLaughlin for the robbery but Aal-Nubiaimhoteppokorohamz's sister, revealed that Baez was the intended target. “They robbed my brother, but they were asking for (Baez),” she said.
Baez, 25, moved to Raleigh from New York at the age of 17. He was known in the areas Hip-Hop scene, and leaves behind a 2-year-old daughter. “He was shot in the neck,” revealed his 18-year-old sister, Anheleta Fermin. “He pretty much died instantly.”
According to Fermin, Baez— who rhymed under the name Joe Dinero—worked to overcome his disabilities, which included partial blindness in one eye, and a heart condition.
