Dame Dash recently sat down with Sharon Carpenter of Global Grind to discuss his current business ventures, his absence from the spotlight, and his current feelings toward Jay-Z and Kanye West. Dash dons a noticeably different demeanor than that of his Roc-A-Fella days, showing that wisdom indeed comes with age.
The Hip-Hop Mogul explained why he became reclusive post-Roc-A-Fella, saying “Well back then I was insecure, you know what I’m saying? So, I was out because I was worried about people knowing what I was doing. I wanted everybody to know what I was doing, because I felt no one knew what I was doing.”
Dash is happy that chapter of his life is over, though; citing art, fashion and places with “no bullets and no security” as his current vices. “I don’t miss those days, but I know for the age I was, you know I was in my 20s, I know I was having a lot of fun.”
Dash was also asked about his former business partner, to which he quickly replied “Look at Jay-Z, look at everything. Look at Kanye [West]. Every success they have, I’m proud of.” While there was no malice professionally, Dame Dash avoided questions about his personal relationship with Hov.
