Ashley Ball might want to think of leaving Detroit, or at least moving to a new house. The 28-year-old was robbed twice, two days in a row.
Early last week, the 28-year-old returned home to find that her “door had been pried open with a crowbar.” She walked inside the residence and saw her stuff all over the place. “They ransacked my house, stole….electronics, jewelry, keepsakes,” she told My Fox Detroit. “The Detroit Police came, and they had a team come out and dust the next day.”
A day later she had a bad feeling, and decided to creep up an alley behind her house, with her headlights turned off.
The hunch paid off because she saw the suspects once again fleeing the scene, for the second time in two days. “I called 911,” Ball explained. “I said I had the car, I had the guys, described them, gave them the license plate.”
She even chased them. “911 told me to quit chasing them because I was putting myself in danger. I was on the phone with 911. I was screaming ‘I caught him, and he’s here! Are you guys coming?’”
Police never showed up, even though Ball continued to tail the thieves. “I saw them. I was close to them. I can’t do anything about it. Nobody’s there to help me. I’m thinking ‘You’re just going to let them get away?’
“They had their crowbar. They guy had a gun. It’s scary. I was extremely afraid.”
Ball hasn’t yet heard back from police, saying that she hopes to get a response soon.
Detroit Police are investigating the situation, but the officer assigned to the case was away from work until a few days after the incident.
