Longtime fans of Wale will recall his 100 Miles and Running days, when his bread and butter was freestyling over unconventional pop tracks. Refer to his impressive “W.A.L.E.D.A.N.C.E.” if you aren’t familiar. His latest release suggests that the DMV rapper hasn’t forgotten those roots, as he drops a few bars over fun.’s popular song “Sight Of the Sun,” which is from the soundtrack of HBO’s TV series Girls.

Wale actually sounds like a more polished version of his former self on the track due to witty lines and metaphors like, “Now it’s coming to subliminals, cause all they women friends be leaving phlegm up on my genitals.” Sheesh, that’s very raw talk right there.

It’s safe to say that this is just one of many appearances we can expect from the MMG artist in coming months. He’s currently preparing his third major label album, The Gifted, which hits shelves June 25. See Wale perform the project’s leading single “Bad,” featuring Tiara Thomas on NBC’s Late Night With Jimmy Fallon here. Feast your ears to “Sight of The Sun” below.
