Childish Gambino Sits Down With The Breakfast Club [VIDEO]
Childish Gambino, also known as actor and writer Donald Glover, turned heads last week with a cryptic series of messages via his Instagram feed. According to a recent interview, those concerned about Bino and his mental state don't have a thing to worry about.
Gambino visited the Power 105 studios in New York this morning to sit down with The Breakfast Club morning show. Wasting no time, hosts DJ Envy, Charlamagne Da God and Angela Yee dove right in with provocative questions and got the rising star to chat about a variety of things including his budding rap career.
“I think a lot of people wanted to be like ‘he's leaving [Community] to be a rapper' which is dumb,” said Gambino. “I think that's the stupidest thing you could probably ever do.”
Gambino responded to Charlamagne's declaration that he has a great job as an actor, adding, “It's not even just acting, I don't want to be labeled. I also don't…I I don't like working for other people. They gave me a show, they wouldn't give a rapper a show. They wouldn't give A$AP [Rocky] a show.”
Of course, the hotel note conversation happened and Gambino displayed a bit of shock at the reaction his moment of honesty got. He was also taken aback that someone posted his words to a suicide hotline website. However, he spoke candidly on what the notes were about.
“I find it crazy that people thought that was suicidal,” explained Gambino. “First of all, suicide is kinda dumb to me. If I wanted to kill myself, I will. It's not hard to die.”
Gambino continued with, "You gotta be honest. Why is everyone pretending everything's OK? Everything's not OK. We are more connected than we've ever been and I feel more alone than ever. Everybody stunts on Instagram, Nobody wants to be vunerable."
