Mannie Fresh Debuts A New Yaasin Bey Cut For NPR [VIDEO]

The legendary Mannie Fresh told a little about himself and premiered some new music to boot at NPR’s first live recording of Microphone Check. The cut that caught everyone’s attention was an unreleased jam by Yasiin Bey (fka Mos Def).

Hosted by A Tribe Called Quest’s Ali Shaheed Muhammad and NPR Hip-Hop editor Frannie Kelley, the podcast is known to delve deep in the mechanics of artists creative process and their life experiences that served as inspiration. But Fresh took a moment to man the ones and twos in the midst of the conversation, and that’s when the new track from the Brooklyn rapper echoed out of the speakers.

The cut is the second song to materialize from Fresh and Yaasin’s long awaited collaborative project. Peep the cut at around the 36:30 mark in the clip below. See Fresh’s full DJ set on the following page.
