From re-releasing his classic sophomore album, Death Certificate, to getting his own star on the Walk of Fame (what took so long?) to kicking off his ambitious Big 3 basketball league, Ice Cube’s been having a heck of a summer so far.
Today (june 22), the West Coast Hip-Hop OG trekked it to The Breakfast Club and sat down with Charlamagne, Envy and Angela Yee to talk about why he created the Big3 league, believing that good cops do exist, and why he went on Bill Maher when people objected to him going.
Here are the 10 things we learned about Ice Cube on The Breakfast Club.

1. Who Got The Props?
Cube enjoys being recognized for his movies but says he wants his “MC props.” Come off them props and give it up for the OG, b.
2. Straight Outta Compton
Cube says a few people are still upset about the Straight Outta Compton because they didn’t get enough shine in the movie or weren’t a part of making it.
3. 2Pac
When he said he showed 2Pac “how to keep it gangsta” he says he meant he showed Pac how to open up his “creative mind to do those kind of records” with “that style and that flavor.” Same way rappers before him showed him how to get down.
4. Big3
He created The Big3 because he felt that just because these NBA players retired doesn’t mean they can’t still ball and as a fan wanted to see them do what it do in a three-on-three setting. He says some players want to see how the first year goes before possibly joining next year.
5. Good Omens
He feels it’s a good omen to open up the league in Brooklyn as New York is the Mecca of basketball and Brooklyn’s essence of street basketball tops it all off.
6. Ballers
Cube is definitely for the Lakers drafting Lonzo Ball and loves Lavar’s tactics simply because he’s a Black man behind his son.
7. Bill Maher
He felt even though people didn’t want him to go on Bill Maher for Bill’s use of the “N” word, he felt it was better to go on and confront him by telling him how he felt. He also said it was for the audience that watches Bill Maher.
8. Last Friday
Ice Cube says you gon’ get Last Friday and that he and Chris Tucker have talked about it, but won’t say he’s committed to it.
9. MC Killer Conspiracy Theory
Ice Cube dismisses people tying his album title Lethal Injection to Eazy E’s having A.I.D.S. He says he does blame Cedars-Sinai for not only Eazy’s death, but also Biggie and Heavy D.
10. Cops
Even with all the f*ckery going on in law enforcement, Cube does feel that there are a lot of good cops out there but might have conformed to the way things work when the shield gets put on.
